Members of the Karnes City Rotary Club and volunteers are busy making plans for the club's 26th annual Lonesome Dove Fest scheduled for Sept. 13-14, 2019!
For the past 26 years, Karnes City Rotary has hosted the event that welcomes dove hunting season. This is the opening weekend for dove season in the south zone. This welcomes visitors to Karnes County to participate in some good old fashion food, fun, friendly competition and entertainment.
Many of the same activities from last year's event are coming back, but organizers are actively working to add new activities, too !!
The Lonesome Dove Fest Parade scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. in downtown Karnes City.
All other Lonesome Dove Fest events will take place at the Karnes County Youth Show Barn Grounds located off of U.S. Highway 181 between Karnes City and Kenedy near Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital. Admission is free and open to the public Friday and all day Saturday, Sept. 14.

The annual event is the main fundraiser, proceeds benefiting youth scholarships for all four Karnes County High School graduates and many other service efforts for the community and youth organizations. It is through the community support of Lonesome Dove Fest each year that allows the Karnes City Rotary Club to fund scholarships for Karnes County High School students and contribute to many more worthwhile community efforts.
